Summary
Helping a legendary pro audio brand launch their Dual Rectifier–inspired amp pedal with a gritty, performance-driven film and content campaign.

Role
Since helping launch the first UAFX pedals, we’ve continued our creative partnership with Universal Audio across a growing line of amp-in-a-box offerings. Their latest release—Knuckles '92 Rev F—channels the raw power of the original Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier, a high-gain icon synonymous with late ’90s and early 2000s heavy music. Built for players chasing that aggressive, mid-scooped bite, Knuckles ’92 distills the chaos of a full-stack monster into a compact, tour-ready pedal.

To bring this story to life, we embedded with Bill Kelliher and Brann Dailor of Mastodon during a live recording session at the band’s West End Sound studio in Atlanta. Shot in a documentary style, the film celebrates the creative process with handheld camera work, textured film grain, and urban b-roll woven between moments of candid performance.

Working with longtime collaborator and cinematographer Brett Carlson, we produced and directed this visceral look at tone under pressure—raw, loud, and undeniably real.

Behind-the-Scenes
Super 8mm film footage & Still Photos
Alongside the main performance film, we captured a range of behind-the-scenes moments on Super 8mm and still photography—documenting the raw creative energy of Bill Kelliher and Brann Dailor inside Mastodon’s West End Sound studio. The grainy texture of analog film and candid stills helped extend the campaign visually, offering a deeper look into the session’s atmosphere and the musicians’ process. These elements became the backbone of the campaign’s supporting content, bridging documentary realism with high-gain nostalgia.
